Knowing If You Are A Candidate For Laser Hair Removal
|
For unwanted hair on your body, there is no better or gentler way of removing that hair then through laser hair removal. With new technology in the lasers being used for laser hair removal it is becoming more of an option for women and men to have unwanted hair removed. However, there are some disadvantages to laser hair removal. One of those disadvantages is being the right candidate for laser hair removal. Before you consider laser hair removal you need to properly evaluate where and if you should have your laser here removal take place. For certain patients there are better advantages with other treatments. You need to do your homework first and then try to find a salon that is very experienced with laser hair removal. The first requirement to be a candidate for laser hair removal is that your hair must be darker then the surrounding skin. This is very important because the discoloring of the skin might be too great and be very noticeable when using laser hair removal. The same can be said when you have a person with very dark skin such as an African American. They absorb too much of the laser energy given out to their skin and can have quite severe skin discoloration. People with tans especially should wait for their tans to fade before considering laser hair removal. Also, people with light hair such as blondes or redheads are often not candidates for laser hair removal. The cost is another consideration when choosing laser hair removal. The initial cost may be very affordable but laser hair removal is not done just in one sitting. It takes multiple treatments and can cost upwards of a thousand dollars once completed. You want to be able to make sure you can afford future treatments to completely finish the laser hair removal process. The price does vary with the size of the area treated as well as the area itself being treated. It would of course cost you more to perform laser hair removal on your back then it would on your face. Usually at least four treatments are necessary to complete the process, and at $200 to $500 per treatment, it can add up pretty quickly. The upper lip is usually the least expensive because of the limited size in which the laser hair removal will take place. Before you consider a center or spa for your treatment you should find out the qualifications of the facility. You want to know if they are board certified, and if there is more than one doctor that is certified on staff. All the personal performing the procedure should be either a registered nurse or licensed physicians. Rarely is there someone who does not have some sort of certification, and if there are you should look elsewhere. Even if it is done at a spa, you want to make sure the people are qualified to do laser hair removal. This is still a medical procedure and you want to make sure you have the best care possible. |
