Ingrown Hair Removal

Treatments For Ingrown Hair Removal

There is almost nothing more painful then an ingrown hair. For men, ingrown hairs usually happen around the neck and beard area. For women, ingrown hairs are most popular around the bikini area. For both men and women, there are treatments for ingrown hair removal; you just have to find the one that best suits you.

Ingrown hair removal consists of taking out the PFB or Psuedofolliculitis Barbae known as ingrown hairs. They are also called razor bumps, ingrowns, shaving bumps, and hair bumps. PFB is the hair which has been cut below the skin level making it grow into and through surrounding tissue instead of out of the follicle and above your skin. Ingrown hair removal helps this by preventing the same ingrown hair from growing the wrong way time and time again. In some cases, ingrown hair removal treatments can also remove the curly hair that grows back into your skin which causes the same kind of reddening and irritation. Ingrown hair removal works especially well on areas that have been shaved, since that is most often the cause of ingrown hairs.

A simple at home treatment for ingrown hair removal is a hot compress. You take a hot facecloth or towel and hold it up to the infected area for at least 10 minutes per session, up to three times per day. This will soften the skin and make the ingrown hair removal simpler and easier to help the hair work its way out. If you can't see the ingrown hair removal treatment working then you should carefully lift out the end of the ingrown hair with a pair of tweezers. You don't want to pluck the hair out completely; otherwise it will just continue to regrow deeper. After carefully lifting up the hair, you may want to put some witch hazel on it to help reduce the pain and redness.

There are several products on the shelves at your local retailer that claim to aid in ingrown hair removal as well. You'll find that they all have Salicylic Acid in common, which is a product that visibly improves ingrown hairs. It moisturizes and clears the pores in your skin. It is more preventative to avoid ingrown hair removal, but it works well on already ingrown hair.

Exfoliating your skin is an easy way to avoid ingrown hair removal as well. You simply remove the upper layers of your already dead skin to let the hairs grown naturally. Using a daily facial scrub as well will eliminate the need for ingrown hair removal treatments. When you wash and exfoliate you want to use a circular motion to dislodge the ingrown hairs already there and then you can clear your follicles, making ingrown hair removal easier and less painful.

For immediate ingrown hair removal, you don't want to shave it off. It will only make it worse and lead to more ingrown hairs. After you have tried the other treatments for ingrown hair removal you can shave again, being careful about not shaving too close and pulling the skin which will eventually lead to more ingrown hairs.
