If you look at many of the pictures of celebrities you might ask yourself why they have short hair one day and then long hair the next. Does celebrity hair grown faster than the normal person's hair? No, of course not! Most likely they have a professional hair stylist who gave them a new hair weave.

A hair weave is a hair extension that is offered at almost all salons now, and can give you a look of longer or thicker hair. A hair weave can be either artificial or human hair and it is simply weaved into your own natural hair very close to the scalp so that it is virtually invisible to anyone else but you and your hair stylist. Many people choose a weave if they don't like their own hair, either because of the length, or texture. Women with thin hair often choose a style to make their hair appear fuller and with more body to it. A hair weave can be any color, style, length, or texture that you choose, and there are plenty to choose from. Don't be surprised though if you have to color your hair to get the perfect color match. Many women don't have traditional colors in their hair so it is hard to get a perfect match.

Depending upon your natural hair type, a hair wave can be added to your hair in a number of different ways. Some women like a hair weave to completely cover their own hair almost as if it were a wig. Other women like a hair weave to simply accentuate their natural hair giving them a more subtle but stunning look. Women with straight or wavy hair tend to have their hair weave add length and volume, whereas women with curly hair like to add more body or curls to their already wonderful hair. The trick is to make the hair weave look like it is naturally part of your own hair. You don't want a hair weave that is too off colored or a completely different texture because it will look out of place and fake.

A hair weave can be expensive and time consuming, but there are ways to lessen your cost. You can choose a synthetic hair weave over a human hair weave. You also may want to go to your normal beauty shop instead of a fancy salon. Often, hair stylists, even in your corner beauty salon, are extremely experience in hair weaves and can give you the look you want at less than half the price. You do however want to make sure your stylist has experience and knows what they are doing. There is nothing worse than paying good money only to see your hair weave fall out in the next few days. Your hair weave should be close to the scalp and be unable to be removed except by the stylist or hair salon that put it in for you. A normal weave will last anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months depending on how experienced the stylist is.
